Good Health Youth Organisation (GHYO) is a youth-based CBO operating in the Kasungu district in Malawi, approximately one and half hours from the capital of Lilongwe. They strive to include youth in meaningful development activities at the district level, ages 10-35. Their projects range from computer skills training to leadership and life skills for youth clubs to be able to fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
They are currently implementing a youth governance and accountability project with Plan International and USAID backing. This is helping to engage them with community matters and establish community structures. Other funded projects include training in public speaking, life skills and peer to peer education. Their ICT development programme run at a computer training college doubles up as a source of income.
We first worked with GHYO in 2012 and they have recently returned to request new support. We are thus treating this as a de facto new partner and have been through a renewed due diligence process.
