Hope Unending, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Founded in February 2017, Hope Unending exists to give support, hope and community reintegration to the many victims of sexual abuse. Equally important Hope Unending wants to help vulnerable populations through prevention and promotion of social justice.

Hope Unending currently has two projects:

  • Home of Hope – A residential training and recovery program. The Home of Hope provides a safe space for women and girls to receive group and individual counselling, life skills and vocational training, then job placement assistance. The Home was established in the Binh Duong province but is currently in transition to Ho Chi Minh City.PAC - Prevention, Awareness and Capacity Building program. In this 3-year project, they partner with a government- sponsored social centre in the Vinh Long province. Hope Unending trains law enforcement officers, government officials, social workers and community leaders, on victim identification and recovery support. The team then implements training programs that can offer long-term benefit to the impacted women and children.
  • Hope Unending was referred to AfID by our partner in Cambodia Chab Dai Coalition. When they first reached out to AfID (late 2017) the Director Marie Watson only recorded income and expenses but she was aware they needed a more formal financial system. The first AfID volunteer Laila Virani supported them for 6 weeks from mid-February this year. Laila worked with Marie to help increase her understanding of the structure of financial accounting systems and business needs, produced the financial statements for 2017, provided training on Excel and trained Marie and other members of staff in petty cash controls.
