Bookbridge Lanka sits under the umbrella of the Global Bookbridge Support Team but is registered separately as a Sri Lankan non-profit Ltd company. Bookbridge International support local entrepreneurs setting up businesses in the field of education. They aim to empower individuals and organisations to take responsibility for themselves and their futures, their families and their goals. They are engaging young people through education.

In each of the subsidiaries of Bookbridge International implement an education programme by setting up learning centres which is staffed and run by the local community, funded via loans from Bookbridge Int. ‘Local Heroes’ are selected to run the centres, undertaking business training models which prepare them to manage and sustain the centres. Upon completion of this training, the centres are handed over to the ‘Local Heroes’ who will repay the Bookbridge Int loan as the centre becomes profitable. The centres are located to support disadvantaged and marginalised communities. They operate as social businesses, reinvesting profit to support those in need.
