Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF), Phnom Penh, , Cambodia

ISF believes that every child, no matter where they were born, should receive quality education and care. ISF was founded in 2006, registered as a charity in Cambodia, UK and Hong Kong and operating in Cambodia. They are working with impoverished and disadvantaged communities in Phnom Penh through education, healthcare and by giving them the tools to build a better future.

An accelerated Education Programme focuses on giving children who have either never been to school or who have had to dropout the opportunity to complete two years of ‘standard’ education in just one year. They can then renter the public schooling system. ISF will continue to support them and their families to access education, improve healthcare and build confidence and opportunity.

ISF uses a Football Programme to educate and support marginalised communities. Children are given the enjoyment of playing and receiving coaching in football, while also being taught life skills. ISF coaches provide weekly training sessions to enact social change; they provide positive role models and raise awareness about relevant issues such as substance abuse, gambling, child rights, leadership, trafficking, HIV/AIDS, environment, women’s rights, gender equality and disability. ISF is currently working with 70 schools, community organisations/ NGOs and national and international football federations.
