Marie Stopes International, Kinshasa, DRC

Marie Stopes International helps women to have children by choice, not chance. They do this by providing contraception and safe abortion to women in urban and rural communities all over the world. Their programme in the DRC is their newest programme; it began offering services in November 2018. Almost 90% of Congolese women are unable to access any modern method, of contraception, and those who can are largely restricted to short-term methods such as condoms.

MSI’s services in the DRC are centred around Kinshasa, and the neighbouring province of Tshopo; their team of mobile midwives and nurses are looking to bring contraception to women in remote areas and urban slums.
