HOPE for Adolescents and Youth provides a platform for young people to make their voices heard and to realise their potential to positively change the lives of themselves and their communities. They are a youth led organisation empowering independence and providing information and skills for their peers. They achieve this through five main pillars:
- Entrepreneurship and Livelihoods
- Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (including HIV Prevention)
- Gender Justice
- Youth Leadership and Participation
- Information Communication Technology
Their work aims to create livelihoods and economic independence; protects those who are vulnerable to early child marriages, HIV and gender and sexual based violence; and teaches youth about leadership, community participation and peer support. They are based in Harare, working in person across the surrounding districts and more widely raising awareness through social media.
Their current funded projects are a Youth Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights educational programme, targeting ages 10-24; a Spotlight programme to End Violence Against Women & Girls; and a Special Help programme due to be funded by USAID, which will respond to challenges with menstrual health management.
