Awareness Against Human Trafficking (HAART Kenya), Nairobi, Kenya

HAART Kenya is a NGO, founded in 2010, working to eradicate human trafficking, exposing the crime and empowering its victims. They are the only civil organisation in Kenya focusing solely on this work. They use a 3 step approach: prevention, protection and influencing policy. Their work raises awareness and sensitises people to the danger of trafficking; they provide rescue, shelter, counselling and reintegration training for victims, educational workshops and opportunities for economic empowerment; and they conduct research on thematic areas which they use to inform and influence policy changes.

HAART's shelter is for girls aged 8-18 years.

Their workshops are run for all ages and a mixture of victims, government or NGOs and community members. Some income is generated from these workshops which carry different fees based on audience. They have helped 420 victims and trained 9000 workshop participants to date.
