East Bali Poverty Project: Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

East Bali Poverty Project’s (EBPP) mission is to eliminate poverty and promote culturally sensitive, sustainable social and economic development in the impoverished rural communities of East Bali, prioritising the health, nutrition and education of children.

Their key programmes include:

  1. Hamlet schools providing impoverished children with education from elementary to senior high level and life skills.
  2. Youth Empowerment Extra-Curricular Courses empowering junior and senior high school students in all 6 EBPP schools to become ‘Agents of Change’
  3. Comprehensive Community Outreach health programmes which include maternal and child health.
  4. Water and Sanitation providing safe water and toilet/bathroom blocks for all families in their hamlets.
  5. Sustainable Bamboo for social and economic development building and training centre for EBPP high school graduates and local farmers to learn every aspect of growing, maintaining, harvesting, treating and managing bamboo for sustainable social and economic development
  6. East Bali Bamboo Bikes a social enterprise created by the local communities to create employment for our youth.

To date their programmes have served over 12,000 families.
