Association for Health, Education, Agriculture and Development in Sierra Leone (AHEAD-SL), Kenema, Sierra Leone

AHEAD-SL is a Sierra Leonean charity supporting local communities to improve their environment, health facilities, quality of education, food security, access to employment and other affecting issues. Their target groups are women, children and youth, those with disabilities and those who are marginalised. They aim to empower communities help themselves through advocacy and through partnering with other key stakeholders to implement support projects. They want to provide youth the means to remain in rural, agricultural areas by improving access to employment and greater food security.

Currently AHEAD-SL is working on donor funded projects to support rice farmers in 13 communities in Wara Wara Bafodia and Kasonko chiefdoms, training young farmers and providing the tools and funds needed for work. They are supporting cocoa and coffee farmers in the Dea chiefdom during the 2018/9 planting season, rehabilitating 560 acres of tree crops. They have also recently teamed up with NGO, Solidaridad West Africa in a project to boost agriculture and food security and build capacity, through supporting sustainable production, marketing, processing and export of agricultural products and value chains in Sierra Leone.
