UK’s Leading International Organisation for Education and Development seeks experienced accountant for internal auditing and procurement support
Start: Oct - Jan Assignment Length: 6 – 8 Weeks Local Resources: Travel, Visa and Accomm.
You could be working with the UK’s leading international organisation for educational opportunities and helping to build cultural relations. We have a rare opportunity for you to experience the delightful sights, sounds and flavours of Senegal whilst helping one of our partner organisations using your auditing skills.
Education is essential to the development of any country; our partner organisation is providing a range of classes to whole hosts of demographics within Senegal giving them the skills they need to prosper in life. Having worked closely with governmental bodies of Senegal and members of the public, our partner is committed to the long-term, sustainable development of Senegal. The finance team is the backbone of our partner organisation and they need someone talented, friendly and up for an adventure to assist with the management of Senegal’s ASL for this financial year (2014/15) and ensuring that the process could be repeated for the annual re-tendering.
Your work would be directly responsible for the educational development of thousands of Senegalese people and would help support our partner organisation throughout all their endeavours.
If you feel you can push yourself and undertake this rewarding, dynamic challenge, your tasks will include working closely with the Country Director and the heads of Finance and Resources to generate a new ASL. In order to go about this, your skills with be necessary for running an open tender process for identified areas of procurement. You will be responsible for assessing current service providers, whilst analysing the benefits of local or regional service providers. Your expertise should help you identify secondary service providers where the spend is small enough, should the approved service providers become unavailable. You will need to be able to create an Excel spreadsheet to match the final ASL, but also ensure that all suppliers’ contracts are in concordance with the guidelines of our partner organisation.
Based in the wonderful city of Dakar, this assignment may take up to 6 weeks, but there’ll be plenty of time for you to immerse yourself in the rich and vibrant culture of Senegal. If you’re a financial manager with a taste for new experiences, this could be the role for you. All you need is knowledge of procurement and tendering, good researching skills, a strong proficiency in English and French and a desire to help those around you.
Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Senegal, incur a placement fee as per the AfID Structured Volunteer Programme fee scale (see FAQs for more details). This role also offers to cover the costs of travel, visas and accommodation.
